How do I measure Accossato brake calipers?

Mar 6, 2023

Are you ready to upgrade your motorcycle brakes with Accossato monobloc calipers, but don't know what size calipers will fit your bike?

Its easier than you think! Check this out....

Motorcycle brake calipers are typically listed as 100mm or 108mm calipers. The way you measure your calipers, uses the dead center of the 2 mounting holes, where the bolts go. The distance between them will be your caliper size.

Typically Japanese bikes are 108mm, and European bikes are 100mm. this is the measurement you need, when you are upgrading your brake calipers.

The answer is probably more simple than you expected. The size simply refers to how far apart the bolts are. Yes, it's literally that simple.

Take your calipers, or a REALLY good ruler that shows millimeters. You want to make sure you are measuring from the dead center of the bolt on each bolt.

What are Monobloc brake calipers?

High end brake calipers such as Accossato, will offer upgraded calipers called "monobloc" calipers. Mobobloc calipers are made from 1 (mono) solid piece of metal (block). With a monobloc, the Pistons operate by squeezing from both sides of the brake caliper. the monobloc design increases stopping power and rigidity in the braking system while improving feel at the lever.

Again, the 2 most common sizes are 108mm (typically used in Japanese bikes - Yamaha, Kawasaki, etc). The 100m versions are commonly used in European bikes (Aprilia, Ducati, KTM, etc).  This is not a guarantee, so you MUST take your own measurement before selecting the proper calipers for your bike.

It is amazing how much the brake feel and performance is improved when you upgrade your brake calipers. Aside from upgrading the master cylinder, this is the most noticeable improvement in braking.
